Winterproof Your Skin!

English: A Facial mask. Português: Uma Máscara...

Whether you’re a native or a newbie, you probably already know that it gets extremely cold in Colorado! These icy winters are nothing to joke about, especially when it comes to caring for your skin. The extreme cold can easily lead to dry, chapped, red skin that looks as awful as it feels. Fortunately, there are things you can do combat winter’s harsh touch. By practicing good Denver skin care, both at home and via a professional, you can look and feel great all year long!

Skin needs moisture all the time, but moisturizing is especially important during the winter months. An excellent Denver skin care regimen is to apply a facial lotion at least twice daily and to use a body lotion on all other parts of the body at least once per day. If you don’t have time to moisturize everywhere, just take care of areas that are particularly prone to dryness, such as the elbows, hands, and feet.

If you’re like most people, you probably love slipping into a hot bath after being out in the cold all day. Unfortunately, soaking in a hot tub is one of the worst things you can do for your skin. The hot water is excellent at drying it out and contributing to chaffing. You can turn down the heat of your bathwater or opt for a shower instead. And, if you absolutely have to take a bath, make sure to moisturize afterwards.

Make sure you indulge yourself with Denver facials too. Just choose a good salon, like Studio Urban Wax, that understands which facial treatments are winter-appropriate. Certain treatments can be too harsh for skin that’s already facing winter weather daily. Gentler Denver facials that restore moisture, instead of zapping it, are your best bet.
